Strike Mandate Vote Results

2424 members voted overwhelmingly to support the Negotiating Team up to and including strike action during the two-hour strike mandate vote on Monday, October 16.

Over 63% of the membership came to cast their vote with 93% voting in favour. The message is clear. We will not stand for major concessions.

Strike Mandate Vote

We have scheduled a crucial strike mandate vote:

Monday, October 16

12:00 – 2:00 p.m.

3rd Floor, Residence Commons

Carleton has proposed major concessions that pose a serious risk to our futures. A strike mandate does not mean a strike but it is a vote of confidence that authorizes your Negotiating Team to take job action, if absolutely necessary. As negotiations continue, a strong strike mandate vote empowers your Negotiating Team and tells our Employer that we are united in protecting our rights and futures.

We strongly encourage members to attend one of the remaining bargaining information sessions in advance of this important vote.

Friday, October 13:

12 p.m. – 3380 MacKenzie

1 p.m. – 4494 MacKenzie

Bargaining Update

CUPE 2424 and the Employer exchanged monetary proposals at the bargaining table on Wednesday, September 13. Due to the complexity and seriousness of proposed monetary concessions raised by the Employer, the CUPE 2424 Negotiating Team has decided to file for Conciliation.

Conciliation is a process whereby the Ministry of Labour will assign a conciliator to help both parties further navigate the bargaining process towards an agreement. The CUPE 2424 Negotiating Team is committed to continuing negotiations in the meantime while awaiting dates for Conciliation.

CUPE 2424 will continue to keep you informed with any important updates.
