Project overview

Carleton University and CUPE 2424 are pleased to announce the beginning of our joint Pay Equity Project, which will ensure that Carleton University is compliant with the Ontario Pay Equity Act.

What you can expect

Carleton University and CUPE 2424 have been working together to develop a new job content questionnaire and a new job evaluation tool.  Employees will be invited to participate in job data collection through the questionnaire and/or an interview process.  This will provide an opportunity to describe the skills, effort, responsibilities and working conditions associated with your job

To support employees in completing the questionnaire and managers in reviewing the questionnaire, information and training sessions are being planned for:

  • October 16
  • October 19
  • October 23
  • October 24

Two, two-hour sessions will be held on each day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. You will receive an invitation to attend one of these sessions. Employees and managers are encouraged to attend to better understand the information needed for job evaluation, and as an opportunity to learn more about the project and ask questions.  Further communication will be shared as to specific times and locations and the registration process.

All jobs will be evaluated and both Carleton and CUPE 2424 will come to consensus on all ratings. The information collected will provide the basis for job classification design and will also be used to create new, current job descriptions for all jobs across CUPE 2424.

Our commitments

We are undertaking this work to ensure fairness and equity.  No employee will see a reduction in their level of compensation.

Both Carleton University and CUPE 2424 are fully committed to this project and will work collaboratively on behalf of the employees represented by CUPE 2424.

Keeping you informed

The project has a dedicated communications team and you will be kept up to date with joint communications surrounding the project’s major milestones, along with regular updates. Communications may be found on the Carleton University Human Resources Intranet site and the CUPE 2424 website.
