2023-2026 Benefits Update Summary

Parental Leave (Art. 22.04 d)

New! Effective upon ratification, the new parental leave top-up offers 95% for 4 weeks in addition to the 17 weeks of maternity leave already in the Collective Agreement.

Special Leave (Art. 22.05)

Improvements! Personal days are part of the 6.0 days of Special Leave.

Improvements! Spiritual Days have been added to the Religious Observance category under Special Leave.

Employee Benefits Plans (Art. 27)

Improvements! Effective April 1, 2024 100% of the cost of the premium of supplementary medical insurance shall be paid by the employer for retirees.

Improvements! Effective April 1, 2024, the Supplementary Medical Insurance Plan will include vision care, including eye exams, at 80% co-insurance to a maximum of $550.00 per insured person every consecutive 24 months.

Improvements! Effective April 1, 2024, the Dental Plan will be improved to include 85% reimbursement of expenses of eligible major restorative treatment to a maximum of $2,500.00 per insured person per calendar year.

Salary Increase (Art. 46)

New! Effective July 1, 2023 an increase equal to 3.00% will be added to the job rates and to the salaries of all employees. The retroactive wage increase will be paid on the mid-April pay date.

New! Effective July 1, 2024 an increase equal to 3.00% will be added to the job rates and to the salaries of all employees.

New! Effective July 1, 2025 an increase equal to 3.00% will be added to the job rates and to the salaries of all employees.

Signing Bonus

New! All members of the bargaining unit on the date of ratification will be entitled to a three hundred dollar ($300) signing bonus to be paid within three months of ratification.

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

New! If recognized by the Employment Standards Act of Ontario, the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation will become a statutory holiday at Carleton University.
